Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat a large pan over medium heat and add olive oil. Toss in halved cherry tomatoes and cover the pan. Sweat for about 10 minutes until softened.
  2. Uncover and add chopped garlic, dried basil, salt, pepper, and dried oregano. Sauté for an additional 10 minutes until tomatoes are completely soft.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a food processor and blend until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
  4. In a pan, melt butter over medium heat. Toast each side of the slices for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Spread approximately one tablespoon of the tomato mixture onto each toast. Place a sardine on top and smash it down gently.
  6. Sprinkle red pepper flakes over each toast and drizzle with hot honey if desired.
