Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Let the goat cheese or cream cheese sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to soften.
  3. Slice each Medjool date lengthwise to create a pocket without cutting through.
  4. Fill each date with 1-2 teaspoons of softened cheese.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine chopped walnuts or almonds with rosemary, orange zest, orange juice, cinnamon, and sea salt. Drizzle in olive oil and mix well.
  6. Top each filled date with the nut mixture.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for about 15 minutes until the cheese softens and the nuts are golden.
  8. Let them cool for about 5 minutes and drizzle with hot honey if desired before serving.
