- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pumpkin pie spice.
- In another bowl, mash the ripe bananas and stir in applesauce, peanut butter, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
- Gently pour the wet banana mixture into the dry ingredients and fold until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips until evenly dispersed.
- Divide batter between pans, smoothing the tops. Optionally sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
- Let cool in pans for 15 to 20 minutes before transferring to wire rack.
