Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a 12-well cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Add vegetable oil, egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
  4. Scoop the batter into the cupcake pan, filling each liner about ⅔ full. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter with brown sugar until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract until fluffy.
  7. Frost the cooled cupcakes with the buttercream using a piping bag or a knife.
