Step-by-Step Instructions for BBQ Chicken Grilled Cheese
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of softened butter, 2 minced garlic cloves, and a handful of chopped parsley. Microwave for 20-30 seconds until melted, then stir to combine.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, sauté 1 thinly sliced red onion for about 5 minutes until softened and translucent. Stir in 2 cloves of minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, then add 2 cups of shredded roasted chicken, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, and ½ cup of BBQ sauce.
- Grab 4 slices of sourdough bread and spread a generous layer of garlic butter on one side of each slice. On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer a slice of Havarti cheese, followed by an even scoop of the BBQ chicken filling, and another slice of cheese on top. Crown each with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the assembled BBQ Chicken Grilled Cheese sandwiches in the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwiches and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is beautifully browned.
- Once grilled to perfection, remove the BBQ Chicken Grilled Cheese sandwiches from the skillet. Allow them to rest for a minute to set their structure. Slice them in half to reveal the gooey, melty interior and serve warm.
