Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by heating 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add 2 sliced medium onions and season with salt and pepper. Cook them gently, stirring occasionally for about 15 minutes, until they are golden brown and beautifully caramelized.
- In the same skillet where you caramelized the onions, add about 6 slices of bacon. Increase the heat slightly to medium-high and cook until crispy, roughly 5-7 minutes. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.
- Grab two slices of your favorite bread to create the base of your sandwiches. Layer a generous portion of shredded cheese on one slice, followed by the crispy bacon and caramelized onions. Top with another slice of bread.
- Spread unsalted butter generously on the outer sides of each sandwich. Make sure every corner is covered to achieve a beautiful toastiness.
- Heat your skillet over medium heat again. Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, pressing down gently with a spatula.
- Once the sandwiches are grilled to perfection, remove them from the skillet and let them cool for a minute. Slice them in half to reveal the gooey cheese and savory filling.
